27th September 2012
The SLC has been informed this week that the Rowan Tree Theatre Company is running a competition for budding playwrights. The deadline for submissions, which had originally been set for 28th September, has now been relaxed somewhat and contributions will still be accepted until Friday 19 October which is a week before the judges meet. Interested parties should, at this stage, contact Judith Wilson at Judith@mdpd.co.uk and express an intention to submit a play. Plays should be written for a maximum of four actors and should be “rooted in the Borders landscape”, and should also be intended to incorporate music. Plays in both the English and Scots languages (including, of course, Borders dialect) will be accepted, with an emphasis on celebrating Borders speech. The winning entry is worth £1500 and it is the intention that the play will tour in the autumn of 2013. If you would like further details please download the PDF file below.
