Scots Language Centre Centre for the Scots Leid

New Convener Wilson

27th April 2017

Recently, Scots Language Centre council convener, Kate Howie, stepped down after a number of years serving on the council and has been succeeded by Rab Wilson. Rab Wilson is a native of New Cumnock, Ayrshire, and originally trained in engineering before becoming a psychiatric nurse and is well known for his campaigns on health issues. As a result of attending creative writing classes, Rab also became interested in Scots some years ago and has since published a number of works as a poet and creative writer in his own right. He joined the SLC council a few years ago. Director Michael Hance commented, Rab has been a steadfast supporter of the centre and has made a significant contribution towards improving awareness of the Scots language. We look forward to his continued input in the role of convener.  Recently Rab took the opportunity in his regular newspaper column to highlight the work of the SLC, and the research, writing and editorial work of Dr Dauvit Horsbroch, Katrina MacLeod and Chris Third who produce and maintain the centres website.
