Amsterdam call for Scots papers

19th October 2017

The University of Amsterdam is calling for papers for its Conference on Contested Languages in the Old World (CLOW3) which will take place there on 3 and 4 May 2018. The organisers are aiming to bring together both academics and language activists working on the current status and future prospects of contested languages, as well as issues such as corpus, status and planning, and how these impact on the speaker communities and academic world.

Among the languages they will be aiming to learn more about is Scots, spoken by 1.5 million people in Scotland (30% of the Scottish population). If you are an academic or language activist working in the field of Scots and will like to offer a paper please submit an abstract by the deadline of 15 December 2017 by going online to the website at http://www.multilingualism.humanities.uva.nl/clow3/cfp/ and selecting ‘submission for abstracts’ from the menu above.

For more information or general enquiries please contact conference co-organiser Sune Gregersen by e-mail at s.h.g.rygard@uva.nl .
