The MacDiarmid Lecture Committee - named after the poet - is holding its annual lecture regarding Borderers who have contributed to the life of the Scottish nation. This year writer James Hogg will be celebrated in a lecture to be delivered by Carl McDougall entitled 'James Hogg, the Ettrick Shepherd and His Circle'. The lecture will begin at 2pm, Saturday 30 August in the Buccleuch Centre, Langholm. Tickets cost 3.50 for the lecture alone or 16.50 for a lunch at midday aswell.
