Conference for Burns Birthday

The Association for Scottish Literary Studies is to mark the 250 anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns with a one day conference entitled ‘Burns’ Language: Then and Now.’ The conference will be held at 12 University Gardens, University of Glasgow, on 28 February 2009 and speakers will include: 10.30-11.15am Pauline Gray on ‘Burns’ Bawdy language’, 11.15am.12.00 Jeremy Smith on ‘Burns’ Punctuation’, 12.00-12.45pm Dorian Grieve on ‘Ideas of Language in the Time of Burns’, 1.30-2.15pm Christine Robinson on ‘Burns and the Scottish Dictionaries’ and 2.15-3.00pm John Corbett on ‘Burns in Modern Quotation’.
