SLC Takes Part in St Andrews Researchers' Night

20th September 2010

Dr Dauvit Horsbroch and Katrina MacLeod of the Scots Language Centre have produced a podcast for St Andrews University Researchers’ Night. The podcast, which runs for about 18 minutes, is available in both the Scots and English languages. Called ‘Kennin the Scots Leid / Knowing the Scots Language’, the podcast describes the Scots language and the various ways in which it is relevant to Scottish history and historical research. It should interest both researchers and Scottish history enthusiasts alike. This is the first time that Scotland has held a Reseachers’ Night, which will take place on Friday 24 September between 3pm and 11pm. During the day the School of History at St Andrews will be hosting various activities and events including public lectures, children’s activities, guided tours, a wine reception with Billy Kay and, of course, the podcasts. There will also be demonstrations of the ‘Scotland, Scandinavia and Northern Europe, 1580-1707’ database. All are welcome and all activities are free, but please check first if you need to book places beforehand. For more information please contact either Dr Kathrin Zickerman on 0131 4661122 kz7@st-andrews.ac.uk or Dr Sumi David on 01334 463302 sjd10@st-andrews.ac.uk

The Scots podcast will afterwards feature on the homepage of the Scots Language Centre.
