Religious work in Scots
A conversation between Eleanor Howie and Robin Lorimer
For many years, Eleanor Howie, was a presenter with Pitlochry based community station, Heartland Radio. Round about the time she began presenting on Heartland, Eleanor interviewed Robin Lorimer, who edited his father W L Lorimer’s famous Scots translation of the New Testament. Eleanor had a long standing interest in Scots and recently was the vice-chair of the Scots Language Centre’s council. Sadly Eleanor died last Christmas. In memory of Eleanor and as a tribute to the work she did to promote Scots we are now able to let you hear the interview in full. In their conversation Eleanor and Robin discuss the New Testament and the language situation in Scotland. It’s a fascinating discussion and a fitting tribute to Eleanor – we hope you enjoy it.
