The Buskin' O' April

7th April 2011

(A rondel fae the Frainch o Charles d'Orléans.)

 Blythe by ilka buddin’ shaw

April's up an’ buskit braw--

Trig, an’ gleg, an’ unco thrang,

For the jaud's been latchen lang:

The merlin whistles clear an’ shrill,

The whins are oot on haugh an’ hill,

An’ blythe by ilka buddin’ shaw

April's up an’ buskit braw:

Lichtly the rivers lilt an’ sing,

Ilk’ burn forbye, an’ glintin’ spring--

A' canty in new goons bedicht,

Cleid attour wi’ siller bricht--

For blythe by ilka buddin’ shaw

April's up an’ buskit braw!
