Matthew Fitt wins Award

Author Matthew Fitt has won the Scottish Book Trust’s ‘Outstanding Contribution to Children’s Books Award’. 

 

Matthew, who co-founded Itchy Coo imprint with author James Robertson, has written original poetry and prose in Scots as well as translating popular children’s titles such as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stane (J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone); Mr Mingin (David Walliam’s Mr Stink) and The Eejits (Roald Dahls The Twits).

 

Matthew Fitt, who regularly delivers Scots language workshops for schools, has expressed his gratitude for the award and said that, ‘it’s pure magic for Scots and a’ the braw bairns and weans that love reading in Scots to be recognised in this way.’
