Scots Language Awards

11th September 2019

On Friday 27 September 2019 the first ever Scots Language Awards will be held at The Mitchell Theatre, Glasgow. Though awards and prizes in the field of Scots-speaking and writing have existed since the days of the early Burns Clubs, this is the first time that a comprehensive package of awards has been put together to officially recognise on a national stage many of those who have contributed to the culture and ongoing development of the language.

There are a total of ten categories and one lifetime achievement award, with particular emphasis on the achievements of schools, pupils and teachers. The sponsored categories include Scots Writer of the Year (sponsored by the Scots Language Centre), Scots Children’s Book of the Year (Scottish Government), Young Scots Speaker of the Year (Education Scotland), Scots Teacher of the Year (Scottish Qualifications Authority), Scots School of the Year (Itchy Coo/Black & White Publishing) and Scots Performer of the Year (Tracs).

Tickets to attend the Awards are priced £12 (£10 concession) and are available from www.ticketsglasgow.com or by telephone 0141 353 8000.
