Elphinstone Sessions: Adam Coutts Performs An Excerpt from 'Broken Hert'
In this session, Adam Coutts from Ten Feet Tall Theatre performs an excerpt from George's monologue from Sheena Blackhall's play 'Broken Hert'. The recording comes from rehearsals for the show 'Celebratin Sheena' which was staged in 2019 at the Barn in Banchory, Aberdeenshire. Sheena's play 'Broken Hert' was commissioned by Gordon Menzies Productions for the BBC Education Scotland’s programme ‘A Tongue in yer Heid’, broadcast on Jan/Feb 1995. It was published later that year in 'A Kenspeckle Creel' by Hammerfield Publishing. Adam said, 'It was a privilege to be involved in bringing Sheena's televised works of The Broken Hert and The Nicht Bus to the stage as an actor. Sheena is well known for her works of poetry, short stories and novels, but it was lovely to highlight her talents for dramatised work in this project too. As an actor there are limited opportunities to engage in work which allows me to use my native Doric tongue and it's always a pleasure to get the opportunity to use it! The 'Celebratin Sheena' production was an inspiring mix of fantastic poetry, music and theatre, which perfectly put the spotlight on the essential work that Sheena has carried out over the years. Being in a rehearsal room with her and hearing share her encyclopaedic knowledge of (often hilarious) songs, stories and poems is something to behold. She is truly one of a kind. Here's to ye Sheena!' For more information on Adam Coutts and Ten Feet Tall Theatre please visit https://www.tenfeettalltheatre.com/.
