The Tale o the Wee Mowdie

The Tale o the Wee Mowdie that wantit tae ken wha keeched on his heid is an illustrated book for younger children, about a mole who goes on a quest to find out exactly who has ruined his day!

Ideal for teaching children the Scots names for animals, the text features a doo, a cuddy, a maukin, a gait, a cud and a dug – and, of course, a mowdie.

Matthew Mackie, a teacher, hopes the book will be available in schools and be used to support the 1 + 2 Approach to teaching Scots language in schools. There is a downloadable glossary of the Scots words used in the text, as well as an activity sheet, available below.

You can buy The Tale o the Wee Mowdie that wantit tae ken wha keeched on his heid from Tippermuir books.
