Calling all Doric Singers

Do you know a good ballad in North East Scots? Do you have a beautiful singing voice? Why not enter the Doric Festival’s Singing Competition? On Saturday 27 September there will be an open competition at Inverurie Town Hall, beginning at 2pm, open to anyone who wishes to register. Singers must perform two songs of which one must be a traditional ballad in Doric. The other one might be a cornkister, ballad or modern song “in the Doric tradition” according to the organisers. The winner will be given the title ‘The Doric Lintie’ – named after the little bird – and will also receive a trophy and prize of £50.
