MSP blasts negligent BBC
Categorised in:
Dr Bill Wilson, MSP for the West of Scotland, lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament on 5 November 2007 which is critical of the BBC for failing to make any mention of the Scots language in its Public Purposes document. Dr Wilson was angered that every language but Scots has been acknowledged by the BBC Trust and added "Gin we dinna tak tent o oor leid we'll tyne it. Is thon the BBC's ettle?" Michael Hance, Director of the Scots Language Centre, welcomed the motion by Dr Wilson and hoped that it would bring this glaring ommission to the attention of MSPs. He concluded that the BBC had "certainly accepted it in Northern Ireland. Why can't they do so here?"
