SLC site to change soon
Film clips, interviews and video blogs will feature on an updated version of the Scots Language Centre's web site. The new features will appear on the site when changes to its structure come into effect in the autumn.
"We've set out to create a Scots language cultural space," says Michael Hance of the Centre. "We will be finding room room for more varieties of Scots. People coming to the site to hear old fashioned or literary versions of Scots might be surprised by what they find. That doesn't mean that those varieties of Scots won't be on the site too, it's just that there will be more of the sorts of voice you might hear in your own house, in the street or down at the pub."
The Centre began the process of modernising itself two years ago when it began to provide a web based service. This latest development carries the process forward and will be followed by a number of new interactive features in the next three of four months.
