Language Strategy Seriously Disappointing - Top Academic
According to international language news gathering agency, Eurolang, a leading Gaelic academic and language policy specialist, Dr. Wilson McLeod of Edinburgh University, has described the Executive's proposed national languages strategy as "seriously disappointing". McLeod is reported to have stated: "It doesn't even deserve to be called a 'strategy', which implies some kind of coordinated plan and a designated goal or destination. This document is simply a list of various things the Executive is doing already, most of which are inadequate to meet the needs of the language communities or languages learners involved."
Scots activists have already epxressed concerns about the strategy. The assertion in the stratgey that Scots is not endangered has angered many supporters of the language.
