2008 has seen the publication of a graphic novel version of Stevenson's Jekyll and Hyde. The original novel was turned into something similar to a screenplay, the text of which was translated into Scots. The translation of this classic tale into Scots was done by James Spence, a Scots language writer, translator and storyteller. In addition to translating work, Spence uses the language of the Borders and Edinburgh is a variety of storytelling settings: nursing homes, weddings, workshops for adults or young people, even a holiday camp. His writing ranges from prizewinning poetry, short stories through to longer works. The graphic novel version of Jekyll and Hyde is Spence's first work for young adults.
