This month the Scots Language Centre will be talking about the Shetland dialect. In particular we will be showcasing the many resources, films and other creative projects where Shetland dialect is the language of choice. We aim to demonstrate what is possible, the wide range of voices and art forms.

This promotion would not be possible without the work of the Shetland dialect promotion organisation Shetland ForWirds. This volunteer driven group has consistently and over many years been active in the promotion of the dialect. They have run numerous  events, created online resources and with energy and imagination have done everything possible to make sure language issues are heard and considered.
