Broken Gong

Fifer Andy Chung’s latest album, Broken Gong, contains all the voices that make up one of Scotland’s most unusual and distinctive singers. Kirkcaldy born Chung comes from a musical family with a strong tradition of singing behind it. His father writes and sings Hakka mountain songs, a traditional Chinese form encompassing story telling and word play, often with a mischievous humour.

Chung has always used Scots in his performances and has written in the language too.

You can hear him singing in Scots in Naebody one of the tracks on his new album.
